Privacy Policy

This policy tells you what this website collects, why it collects it, and who else receives it.

Effective July 24, 2026

Who we are

This website belongs to the South Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists. The Society is a professional association of physician anesthesiologists in South Carolina. In this policy, “we” and “the Society” mean that association.

To ask a question about this policy, write to [email protected] or use the contact form.

What you send us

You can read this website without giving us anything. We only receive information that you type into a form, or that you give us when you sign in.

These are the forms, and what each one collects:

  • Contact form. Your name, your email address, the topic you choose, your message, and your telephone number if you give one. The telephone number is optional.
  • Membership application. Your name, your email address, your mailing address, your practice details, and your qualifications.
  • Thank-you note to an anesthesiologist. Your note, the physician you name, and your name and email address if you give them. You can send a note without giving your name.
  • Job posting. The employer, the position details, and the contact email address for the posting.
  • Group enrollment inquiry. The group name, a contact name, and a contact email address.
  • Lobby Day sign-up. Your name, your email address, and the details you supply for the event.
  • Email digest sign-up. Your email address only.
  • Request to link your record. Your email address, and the directory record you ask to link to.

Do not send us clinical information about a patient through this website. No form here is a medical record, and no form here is a secure channel for patient health information.

What we record about your device

When you submit a form, we record a one-way code that stands for your network address. We do not store the address itself. We build the code with a keyed hash, so the code cannot be turned back into an address.

We use the code for one purpose. It lets us count how many submissions came from one place in a short time, and refuse the rest. This stops a person from using our forms to send mail to a stranger repeatedly.

Our network provider, Cloudflare, adds a web analytics script to each page. The script reports page views to us. We do not use it to identify you.

Cookies

This website sets a cookie only when you sign in. The cookie holds your sign-in session and lets you stay signed in while you use the member portal or the staff area. It expires when the session ends.

We use no advertising cookies. We use no cross-site tracking cookies.

Two features on this site come from other companies and can set their own storage in your browser: the challenge box that protects our forms, and the map on the contact page. Read the sections below.

How we use what you send

  • To answer you. A member of staff reads your message and replies.
  • To process your application, your posting, or your request.
  • To send you an acknowledgement by email, so you know we received it.
  • To tell Society staff by email that something arrived and needs attention.
  • To send the email digest, if you asked for it.
  • To pass a thank-you note to the physician you named, if staff approve it.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not give it to anybody for their own marketing.

Who else receives it

We use a small number of service providers. Each one receives only what its job needs.

  • Cloudflare. It serves this website, and it runs the challenge box that protects every public form. It receives your network address and the challenge result.
  • Resend. It delivers our email. It receives the address we send to and the message we send.
  • Google. The contact page shows a map that Google supplies. Your browser requests that map directly from Google.
  • Our hosting and database provider. It stores the site and its database.

We also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the Society, our members, or the public.

The email digest

The digest uses confirmed sign-up. When you give us your address, we send you a confirmation link. You are not on the list until you use that link. The link stops working after 48 hours.

Every issue carries your own unsubscribe link. Use it to leave the list at any time. We keep a record that you unsubscribed, so that we do not send to you again.

The physician directory

The directory of anesthesiologists comes from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System, a public registry published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. That information is public record. A physician does not choose to be in it, and we do not add people to it.

A Society member is only marked as a member, and only shows the detail they wrote themselves, if that member chose to be listed. If you believe a directory entry is wrong, tell us and we will look at it.

Payments

This website takes no payment. It has no shopping cart and no card form. We never see or store a card number.

Society dues are billed and collected by the American Society of Anesthesiologists with your national renewal. Contributions to SCSA PAC are taken on a separate hosted payment page, which is operated under a different address and has its own privacy notice.

Signing in and the staff area

If you sign in, we record your email address and your sign-in activity. Staff accounts can use a key to reach the Society’s administrative tools from another program. When a key is used, we record which key it was, what it did, whether it succeeded, and the one-way code for the network address. We keep this record so that the Society can audit its own tools.

How long we keep it

We keep what you send in our database. This website does not delete submissions automatically.

To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to remove it, write to [email protected]. Tell us which form you used and roughly when you used it. This helps us find the record.

Security

This website is served over an encrypted connection. We store a one-way code in place of your network address. We restrict the staff area to named accounts, and we check that permission on every action, not only at the door.

No website can promise perfect security. Do not send us anything through this site that you would not want a third party to read.

Children

This website is for physicians, for members of the Society, and for adults asking about anesthesia care. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from a child.

Changes to this policy

We can change this policy. When we do, we change the effective date at the top of this page. Read the page again to see the current version.
